You depart Lilongwe by 07hrs driving past the Diamphwe-Linthipe Drift, past the Chongoni Rock Art World Heritage Site. You will only travel in the buffer Zone all the way to Dedza Pottery, your first stop. At Dedza Pottery you will visit the show room as well as view people making clay pots and other art made from clay soil. What about trying to do the pottery work yourself? You will proceed travelling the Golomoti Escarpment. This has some of the most stunning views of the valley and the lake from a distance. This is also the most winding paved road in all Malawi. You will proceed to Mua Mission where you will visit the showroom, the art galley and the cultural museum. Here art made of dead wood from the forest made by local communities is displayed. You will also visit the best cultural museum in the country. Proceeding from there you will travel all the way to Cape Maclear at Fat Monkeys or similar other places on bed only. Cape Maclear on Lake Malawi is described as the most beautiful beach on the lake in Africa.
On this day you are at Cape Maclear. Your morning will be spent on a boat cruise visiting the islands, feeding the eagles and playing with Cichlids Fish in the waters. Cape Maclear is part of Lake Malawi National Park, the first aquatic park in the world. It was set up to protect Cichlids Fish, locally known as Mbuna among others. You will walk into the park, visiting historical graves and other places. You will be back to your lodge in time for lunch.
Your afternoon is free giving you a chance to swim, walk the beach, visit the village or just soak up on the beach. Night at Fat Monkeys or some other similar place.
On this day you are travelling along the coastline towards the end of the lake. You will visit Mangochi Town, M” baluku Village and ascend the Chowe Escarpment and enjoy the stunning views of the lake from the eastern side. You will You will travel along the eastern border with Mozambique all the way to Liwonde in time for your afternoon game activity. You will finally get to Liwonde Safari Camp just in the edge of Liwonde National Park. Liwonde National Park is the most stocked park in the country. It has large herds of mammals such as elephants, hippos, buffaloes and many others.
On this day you will start your game activity in the morning after breakfast. You game activity will be for 3-4hrs. You will return to camp for your lunch and start off. You will travel all the way to Mulanje at Kara Omura on the foot of Mulanje Mountain.
Your day in the Mountains. You will get ready early for a mountain hike, walking the mountain with a guide to some of the plateaus you will have your picnic lunch and will be in the mountain till late afternoon when you will come down to a restful sundowner. You will spend this night at Kara Omura.
This day is dedicated to the tea plantation landscape. You will visit the tea plantations going round the mountain eastwards to Lujeri and other estates. You will have a chance to visit the tea factory to see tea processing(if allowed by the estate management). You will drive back through the tea and coffee plantations in Thyolo. You will finally get to Game Haven for your night on bed and breakfast.
After breakfast you will drive through the City of Blantyre and Zomba going up Zomaba Mountain at Sunbird Ku Chawe. You will have your picnic and rest break in Zomba. You will drive on back to Lilongwe by 16hrs.
